Taize Prayer
We gather together for a very special evening of Taize prayer. Taizé (pronounced: tay-zay) is a prayerful form of music known for its simple, yet rich and meditative character. Taizé music often takes the structure of a simple melody that repeats over and over and is meant to serve as a kind of musical centering prayer. The singing of distinctive and much-repeated prayer chants during candlelit prayer services is one of its trademarks. Taizé music highlights simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is designed to help meditation and prayer.
If you have never attended this type of prayer service, please consider joining us for a remarkable evening of contemplation and peace. What a great way to prepare yourself to enter the most holy of weeks.
